Mazes and Pumpkin Patches
Some parts of the world are very scary indeed, as are some parts of today’s times…But there are also some very good places and times. I believe if we pray for the bad and focus on trying to do good everyday and hold our loved ones close, we’ll come through okay.
Ghost and goblin season is upon us. We may not have frost on the pumpkins, but that doesn’t keep us from celebrating the fall season, besides just pumpkin spice everything and the horrible blood and gore that has overtaken what used to be a fun holiday for little ones.
I’ve reached out to places close by that are going to have corn or sunflower mazes again this year. Several of them have returned my calls and they sound like a whole day’s fun each. First, don’t forget our own Pumpkin Patch on Fay Blvd. It seems to be going up as I’m typing this. They do such a great job every year. The pumpkins are fresh and the proceeds go to a great cause.
Our own PSJ Library is having it’s annual Fall Festival. There will be carnival games, pumpkin painting, local vendors bringing goodies and more!
The Pumpkin Patch at Indian River Church - 1355 Cheney Highway, Titusville, phone 321-267-7922 - will be open every weekend in October and have hay rides, a pumpkin patch and various vendors. Last year the decorations and foodstuff were wonderful and again, the proceeds go to a good cause.
The Platts Patch - 3300 Sand Gully Dr., Melbourne, phone 321-684-0124 - is one that sounds like you’ll need to schedule a whole day to enjoy. Four acre(!) corn maze, (if you don’t come out by Thursday, they will come look for you), pumpkin and gourd patch, hay ride, many local vendors of yummy treats, candles and more, games and crafts for kids and adults, farm animals and equipment for great photo ops.
Brevard Zoo - 8225 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne - is doing their annual Boo at the Zoo, perfect for the younger set. There will be stations for the kids to do crafts and gather treats while having fun; not getting scared.
This year they added Beware The Night!, which sounds a little scarier, but still great fun for kids a little older. Neither has blood nor gore and no one and no thing will be jumping from the shadows. It’s going on each weekend night in October.
I have reached out to others but have not received replies as of this writing.
The above is only what I was able to find, but I’m sure our little part of paradise will have many more fun places to go for little ones to enjoy, sans blood and gore.
